Ball set rolling for bond road scheme phase-II

THE SECOND phase of the bond BOT road scheme moved a step closer to fruition with the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) short-listing five routes with a combined length of a little over 8 kilometres.

In all, 13 km roads are to be laid under the second phase of the scheme at a cost of roughly Rs 4 crore per kilometre. Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma ordered a feasibility study after an inspection tour of the proposed routes on Thursday.
She was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Vinod Sharma, Mayor-in-Council member in-charge of Public Works Lalit Porwal and officials of M/s Prabhat Enterprise, the firm awarded the bond road contract.

Dr Sharma directed the contractor to determine the area allocated to each road under the City Development Plan, the number of people living to be affected or displaced by road-building, as well as to gauge whether sufficient traffic density and peak hour congestion existed to justify the route being included in the scheme.
