"I'll try to change the culture where the United Nations has been operating," he told reporters when asked for his comments on the reported statement of American UN Ambassador John Bolton that he should fire the entire team of advisors.

"We need to bring new, fresh wind to the Secretariat," and to bring management reforms to ensure that the staff shows professionalism and works with highest integrity, he said.

The top officials from Assistant Secretaries-General level up in the UN generally resign after a new Secretary-General takes over to give the incumbent the choice to reshuffle the top team and drop those whom he considers not up to the mark.

While stating that the staff should be made more accountable, he also stressed the need for clear guidelines being given by the member states on the missions.
