THE THREE Bangladeshi dacoits – Abul, Jalal and Farooq - who have been brought to Indore for questioning, told police that they had been involved in theft and dacoity for the past 25 years.
After they were caught in Delhi, they shifted their target and chose Madhya Pradesh. They said that Jalal’s father came from Bangladesh in 1972 to Delhi, while Abul’s father came to Gazhiabad, where he open a kirana shop.
Abul and Jalal were friends and in the 80s they made their own gang and committed thefts in and around Delhi. It was in the 1990 that this gang was caught for the first time. Later Jalal was caught in Jaipur and spent seven years in jail, while Abul was caught in another dacoity case and served time in Tihar jail.
After both were released, they decided not to target Jaipur and Delhi and chose Madhya Pradesh, more so because they had relatives living here. They chose Indore, as it was the biggest city. In the first round they committed eight dacoities in Indore and in the second round they committed 13 dacoities in Bhopal, Dewas, Ujjain and Indore.
They said that after committing the dacoity at Scheme No 78 in Indore, Jalal drove the Scorpio and parked it at Agrawal Nagar and went to the station, from where he sat on the Indore-Bhopal inter-city and reached Bhopal.

{{/usCountry}}Abul and the others sat in a bus for Bhopal. Since the bus was making a lot of noise, Abul decided to get a taxi and was negotiating with a taxi driver when he was caught. Jalal wanted to take Abul’s wife Fatima to Bangladesh, but she refused and said he should take her to her sister’s place in Delhi. When Jalal took her there, he found the police waiting and was arrested.
