The party has made national general secretary Nasimuddin Siddiqui in charge of the region, along with Satish Mishra, to attract Muslim and Brahmin votes. The victory of BSP candidate in the by-election under Siddiqui has consolidated his position in the party.

Earlier, he was party in charge of western UP in the previous election and BSP has registered victory over around three-dozen seats. This time party chief Mayawati is testing his steam in eastern UP.

The party is on the lookout for winning candidates irrespective of the party cadre and senior SP leader Jamuna Nishad has already deserted his party to join BSP. Besides, sitting MLA of BJP, Fateh Bahadur Singh, too joined the BSP and according to sources many sitting MLAs of the ruling party and the BJP are in touch with senior BSP leaders in this regard.

These conferences would not only help consolidate the party’s position in the region but is also expected to give a wake-up call to other political parties.

Siddiqui and Mishra have been told to leave no stone unturned to ensure the victory of the party in the assembly election and their visits to the region would decide the fate of aspirants for the party ticket.

Sources said the party would focus on winning candidates, as they want to capture power and to form the BSP government without any support. BSP is hoping that the RLD alliance with SP would not continue for a long time and their good relations with RLD in eastern UP would help BSP form the next government.
