"We are awaiting a report on Zaheer's injury from the team physio (Andrew Leipus) and trainer (Gregory King) and then only can react," BCCI secretary S Karunakaran Nair said on Wednesday.

"He's under observation at present and his progress is being monitored in Sri Lanka," Nair said.

All the players chosen for the Asia Cup were declared fit by the physio and trainer after observing them during the two phases of the conditioning camp and the two practice ties they played in Chennai, he said.

"The report given was that all players were fit for consideration after they were observed during the two conditioning camps. It (Zaheer's injury) might be a new one or a recurrence of an old injury. We will have to wait and see," Nair added.

Meanwhile, Nair washed his and BCCI's hands off the controversy surrounding the media accreditation given to former India captain Mohd Azharuddin, banned for life by the BCCI for match-fixing, to report on the Asia Cup for a private TV channel.

"We have nothing to do with it as the request for his accreditation was not routed through us," Nair said. The move to give the scam-tainted Azharuddin a media accreditation has been severely criticised by ICC president Ehsan Mani.
