Indian cricket and crisis seem to be made for each other. And the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) conduct in several areas — be it the television rights row or elections for its office-bearers — is unbecoming of the authority and responsibility associated with it.

The BCCI's elections turned out to be a sad and sleazy affair where power politics rather than merit reigned supreme. The feudal and amateurish manner in which the BCCI elected its office-bearers raised eyebrows among the Government and finally took a petition in a court to place a court-appointed official at the helm of affairs.

The whole issues has left a bad taste in the mouths of many and also raised questions whether the board officials are interested in promoting the game and the often-sagging fortunes of Indian cricket.
