"We have decided to extend by one year the tenure of the coach, physio and trainer," said the official, who did not want to be named.

The tenure of former New Zealand captain Wright, who took over as India's first foreign coach in November 2000, physio Andrew Leipus and trainer Adrian Le Roux had ended with last month's World Cup in South Africa.

The trio had been expected to keep their jobs after India's good run until their tame defeat in the Cup final to champions Australia.

Senior officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the decision at an informal meeting held earlier this week which is expected to be ratified at the BCCI's working committee on April 26-27.

The BCCI has already given a two-month extension to Wright to guide the team at a one-day tri-nations series starting in Dhaka on Friday.

The ex-Australia test batsman was removed as Sri Lanka's coach after the World Cup and ended his last assignment with the team at the one-day series in Sharjah where they failed to reach Thursday's final.
