BCCI satisfied with Green Park track

A BCCI pitch committee member visited the venue of the April 15 ODI and expressed his satisfaction over the condition of the track.

BCCI pitch committee member Anand Shukla visited the Green Park stadium on Tuesday and expressed his satisfaction over the condition of the track where a One-Day International cricket match between India and Pakistan would be played on April 15.

Kanpur division commissioner Anita Bhatnagar Jain had also visited the stadium on Monday and instructed the officials of Green Park to complete all repair works of public and students gallaries by March 24.

The commissioner said besides the close circuit cameras in various enclosures, videography would also be arranged to prevent any untoward incident during the match.

Police administration have also geared up the activities and the entire stadium has been divided into 19 zones, she said adding that there would be separate entrances for the cricket teams and the VVIPs and officials.

The Green Park stadium has a seating capacity of over 39,000.

After an abortive attempt to damage the Green Park stadium by a group of Shiv Sena activists last month, the district administration has deployed security staff on round the clock duty.

The visiting Pakistan and Indian teams and senior officials of BCCI would be staying at Landmark Hotel while the media persons would be given accomodations at Mall Road and Civil Lines Hotels.

About 50 per cent accomodations in the standard hotels of the city have already been booked for cricket fans coming to witness the One-Day International match between India and Pakistan at the Green Park stadium on April 15.
