INTENSIFYING THE drive against vehicles flouting traffic norms, cops and district police have removed beacon lights from 17 vehicles at different crossings of the city in the last two days. The police faced tough time in doing this as those caught tried to put pressure on the cops.

It’s worthy to note following DGP Bua Singh’s directive, the district police launched a drive against misuse of beacon lights. Four teams were constituted in the district for the purpose. The team deployed at Nausarh crossing removed half-a-dozen hooters from different vehicles.
The police officials have been given a week to do the needful, June 1 to June 7. The four teams constituted were deployed at Nausarh crossing, Kunraghat, Bargadwa and Gulharia crossings. It was worthy to note even office-bearers of the DDU Gorakhpur University were using beacon lights and hooters. The office-bearers of the ruling SP were also misusing hooters. And the cops had a tough time while tackling the SP officials.
Even State Government officials including senior officials of departments of agriculture, cooperative education and health were accused of using hooters.
Though the cops succeeded in punishing the guilty, it was alleged the lights were reinstalled on cars that were caught.
