Gaurav Agarwal has been offered a $193,000 (about Rs 87 lakh) annual package by Barclays Capital (London) - about Rs 4 lakh more than the highest salary offered to an IIM Ahmedabad student.

This year, 110 companies offered jobs to 182 graduates with an average pay cheque of $90,000 (about Rs 40 lakh) a year for foreign postings and Rs 9 lakh a year for postings in the country.

More than 40 students accepted positions in consulting, with McKinsey and Co accounting for nine of them, making it the largest recruiter this year.

IIM-B director professor Prakash Apte said: "The salary packages are a little more than normal because of our booming economy."
