Hu's comments, made during a joint news conference with Pakistani President Gen Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad, came just a day after arriving in Pakistan after a trip to India.

Musharraf called for the resolution of the Kashmir issue with India saying both countries wanted peace and urged both governments to push ahead with peace talks.

"We will move forward, and we will resolve our disputes in future," he said.
