For almost a decade Benazir has been staying in England, after the 1997 elections when Nawaz Sharif captured power.

Ruling out Nawaz Sharif's return, he said that he did not have any political future till 2010 (going by the deal he signed with President Pervez Musharraf at the time he was allowed to go in-exile to Saudi Arabia).

The minister further said that the federal government was in contact with several parliamentarians belonging to the PML-N and PPPP, and claimed that they were ready to join the ruling party - the Pakistan Muslim League (PML).

According to him, the present assemblies would re-elect President Pervez Musharraf, as he added, Pakistan's Constitution allowed the present assemblies to re-elect the President and if someone had any doubt, he could go to the Supreme Court for its interpretation.
