Best recoveries in Test cricket history

Tottering at 39/6 at one stage, Pakistan ended with a respectable 245 in the first innings.

On the opening day of Karachi Test Pakistan were in dire straits at one stage losing their first six wickets with just 39 runs on the board, but recovered to end up with a rather respectable 245, adding 206 runs to the total.

This is now the best recovery for any side in Test cricket history after being six down for 40 or less runs. The previous record in this regard was held by India. Against South Africa at Port Elizabeth in 1992-93, in their second innings India had lost first six wickets for only 31 runs, but recovered to compile 215, thanks to a brilliant century by Kapil Dev.
