But there should be another hitch for all that glitters is not gold. Even reputed shops at times deceive. So it will be better to pick and choose the shop. To make things much easier it would be more better if the shop is selected with the help of a family friend who trusts the owner. Make sure that he or she accompanies you.

So this is the kind of money some jewellers in the city are making by outrightly cheating the trust of their valued customers.
Of late there has been a mushrooming growth of jewellers in the city. The department which is supposed to keep an eye on them had been sleeping. This is evident from the single raid in such a shop by them which was made probably after several years. This means that there are several such players in this field who continue to cheat buyers of gold and silver with impunity.
A man selling fake silver coins with idols of Laxmi and Ganesh embossed on them was nabbed by the Kotwali police only on Friday. He was found carrying 22-Kg fake silver coins of a metal which sells for Rs 300 a kilogram in the market, said CO Rajesh Chaurasia. On the other hand silver was selling at around Rs 17,500 per kg.
So, one can imagine the kind of money people have been making by tricking the unsuspecting buyer. The man from Bijnor during interrogation revealed having sold such coins to some jewellers. But the jewellers in turn refused having purchased any such coin from the arrested man.
