BHEL successfully tests pump model for Andhra

BHEL BHOPAL’S Hydro Laboratory has made a significant achievement by successfully completing the pump model test for Kalwakurty LIS Stage-III of Government of Andhra Pradesh.

According to a release, BHEL received the order for supply of 5 X 30 mw large capacity pump-motor sets from Gammon India Limited, who are the turnkey contractor for this project.

The hydraulic design of pump suiting to project data, was done by lab engineers. These pumps will be used for irrigation purposes. This is the first pump designed in India for a head of 122 meters in a single discharge, the release claimed.

The model test was carried out in presence of engineers from Gammon India Ltd, Irrigation department of Government of Andhra Pradesh and APGENCO from January 4 to 9, 2007. The test proved the pump’s capability to meet the guaranteed efficiency and discharge.

General Manager (Hydro) M K Dubey presided over the function held in the hydro lab in the presence of staff of laboratory and other hydro departments.

A copy of model test results were handed over to representatives of Gammon India Ltd., Irrigation department of Government of Andhra Pradesh and APGENCO.

He also praised BHEL for providing detailed insight into various technical aspects of model test and pump operation.
