Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited's Ramachandrapuram unit has achieved an all time high profit of Rs 609 crore during 2005-2006, up 90 per cent from last year.

Addressing a press conference here, BHEL Executive Director (Ramachandrapuram unit) Chandra Pratap Singh said the turnover of the unit also registered a 51 per cent growth at Rs 2,635 crores in comparison to last year's Rs 1,747 crores.

He said the unit received orders worth Rs 4,000 crore during the current fiscal while the export orders were expected to be Rs 567 crores.
Listing out the achievements of BHEL on in-house developments, Singh said for the first time a 15 kv generator has been designed to meet the requirement of export market.
