Bhopal: Cop kills woman for refusing his marriage offer

A sub-inspector of police shot dead a woman for refusing his marriage proposal in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, the police said.

A sub-inspector of police shot dead a woman for refusing his marriage proposal in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, the police said.

From the preliminary investigation, the police have found that the accused, Ravendra Singh Bundela, 28, is related to the family of the deceased, Shiromani Singh Parmar, 24.

Bundela had been interested in marrying the deceased for long and her family too had no objection to the match.

To repeat his offer once more, Bundela on Tuesday came to visit Parmar's family in Panna Naka area of Chhatarpur district.

On Thursday afternoon, when he proposed to Parmar again, she categorically refused and told him that the only thing on her mind at the moment was the preparation for an upcoming job exam.

Spurned, Bundela pulled out his service revolver and shot at her. Though, she was taken to a hospital, doctors declared her "brought dead".

After firing at her, the accused had tried to escape but was caught by the local people. He has been arrested on charges of murder, said Chhatarpur superintendent of police Lalit Shakyawar.
