THE TEAM of Yatish Chandra and BS Saxena of Bhopal won laurels for the City by winning second position in the IMP Pair Tournament played under the 48th Winter National Bridge Championship being organised at Tatya Tope Stadium on Thursday.
It was the highest position won by any team from Bhopal in the championship. Team of SK Vaidya and AP Jog stood first in the event.
The Bhopal team stood second among 66 pairs that participated in the championship. The pair of Bendre and Sohas Vaidya came third in the same event.
In the other event, Indian Railways A, Indian Railways B, Formidable Delhi, CB Rao, Nalco, PK Bira, Kamlesh Gupta and India Blues managed to register their name in the last eight teams.
Interesting rounds were played on the fourth day. Unlike other days when participants could easily see each other had given a wood curtain in the rounds played on Thursday so that they could not communicate in sign language. “We use such blocks between the participants for the last 16 teams which are important rounds,” said Yatish Chandra, vice-president, Bridge Federation of India (BFI). He expressed satisfaction over his performance in the IMP Tournament.

In the sponsored event, team of Pradeep and Pankaj stood first. T team of SP Roy and S Mukherjee had to content with the second position. Pair of GV Rao and SP Sudhakarrao came third in the event.
Maya Meera Senha stood first in the Swiss League round that was started on Wednesday. Shila Shishta and Shri Cement came second and third in the same event.
