BHU soon to have students council
BHU V-C Prof Panjab Singh said that a students council would be set up within 15 to 20 days in BHU. After inaugurating the Media Conference Hall at Information and Public Relations Office in BHU on Monday, Prof Singh welcomed the recommendations of JM Lyngdoh Committee by saying, “This is a good report and we welcome it”.
“It is a good line to follow,” he said, adding there should be some democratic set up in academic institutions and that was why efforts were on to set up a students’ council in BHU. “If required, the students’ council would be changed into students union”, he added.
Dean of students Prof VK Kumra had issued a circular to concerned authorities for their comments on constitution of a three-tier students council system at university, faculty and hostel level in BHU last week.
Prof Panjab Singh said that efforts were on in full swing to ensure better infrastructure facilities on the south campus of BHU at Barkacha in Mirzapur district.
He said that two dozen more faculty members would soon be appointed for south campus.
Principal of Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Prof Sushila Singh, Prof KK Sharma and Dr GN Srivastava were among others present on the occasion.
