Bhutan, India sign pact on electoral management

India and Bhutan on Saturday signed an agreement to promote cooperation, consultation and exchange in the field of electoral management and administration between the two countries.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was inked at Thimphu, Bhutan, by visiting Chief Election Commissioner BB Tandon and his Bhutanese counterpart Kunzan Wangdi.

Tandon is leading a delegation to Bhutan.

The MoU further envisages to promote cooperation in the field of electoral assistance between the two sides which included training of personnel and development of human resources, production and dissemination of materials pertaining to electoral systems, voting technology and voters education and awareness.

It was agreed that both the Commissions should conduct periodic consultations with a view to ensure appropriate follow up of the MoU.
