The work on the Bidesia gallery at Manav Vikas Sangrahalaya of GB Pant Social Science Institute (GBPSSI), Jhusi, will be started in the second week of May and it will be opened for the visitors in the month of July. The gallery will include photographs, dioramas, memory charts etc portraying the entire process of migration of Indians to the Netherlands and Surinam.

GBPSSI will be hosting the third project meeting from May 1 to 6.
The scholars attending the meeting include the representatives of the KIT Tropen Museum, Susane Legene, Marijkee Besselink and Chitra Gajadin from
The Netherlands. The representatives of IMWO, Surinam include Maurits Hassankhan, Narinder Mohkamsingh and Sahiensha Ramdas.

Maurits Hassankhan is an eminent historian at the University of Paramaribo and is also the Internal Affairs Minister, Government of Surinam. He will be inaugurating the first paper of Dr Chan ES Choenni in the Institute's seminar hall on May 1, under the Bidesia Occasional Paper Series, which has evolved as a part of the Bidesia project with a view to bringing to the forefront the studies on indentured and contemporary migration.

"The term 'Bidesia' is used as an affectionate term for non-resident Bhojpuri, and, in another sense, refers to the folk tradition which got created in memory of those resident and non-resident Bhojpuris," said BN Tiwari, keyperson involved in the project and also the incharge of Manav Vikas Sangrahalay at the institute.
