BOLLYWOOD SUPERSTAR Amitabh Bachchan was in action on the banks of the Ganga here on Sunday. The star arrived in the city late on Saturday night in connection with the shooting of a documentary. He crossed the Ganga for shooting of a documentary in the wee hours of Sunday. A large number of fans rushed to see him at the Ganga ghats. Enthusiasm among district officials was no less. They descended on the venue of the shooting with their family members.

The shooting lasted an hour and a half. The venue was off-limits for the media. There was an unprecedented rush of people who watched from a distance Amitabh’s shots facing the rising sun and the Ganga on the auspicious occasion of Dala Chhat.
On the banks of the Ganga river, Amitabh read a slew of eye-catching slogans before the camera with the backdrop of the 80-odd imposing ghats of Varanasi giving a perfect setting to shooting, from across the river.
Some officers were reportedly successful in managing a photo session of the mega star with their family members. Amitabh later visited the Kashi Vishwanath and the Sankat Mochan Temples where he paid obeisance before leaving for Mumbai.
He had arrived in a chartered plane late on Saturday evening.
According to a PTI report, Amitabh expressed his desire to be reborn on the banks of river Ganga. Bachchan was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Development Council Chairman Amar Singh.

This led to chaos on the premises of the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport here on Sunday. The youth, reportedly a fan of Amitabh, wanted to have a glimpse of the actor.
The security personnel arrested the youth and handed him over to Phoolpur police for interrogation. CISF deputy commandant Rohiteshwar said the youth, identified as Dinesh Giri, was mentally challenged.
According to reports, Amitabh and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh boarded the charted flight at the airport to fly to Mumbai. Meanwhile, the Airport Traffic Control Office directed the pilot of plane not to start as a suspected man was approaching the runway.
The Central Industrial Security Force jawans swung into action and arrested the youth. The youth is a resident of Karmi village.
