Officials at the chief minister's office and Rajbhavan described it as "a courtesy call" by Kumar.

The meeting came barely a week after a delegation of Opposition parties submitted a memorandum to the governor seeking immediate dismissal of the Nitish Kumar government after CAG report highlighted alleged irregularities of Rs 11,412 crore in execution of development and welfare schemes between 2002-03 and 2007-08.

The Opposition had created unruly scenes in the two Houses of state Legislature last week demanding resignation of the present government following the CAG report, which these parties claimed, had exposed "a major scam", eleven times bigger than the fodder scam.

The Speaker Udai Narain Choudhary had then suspended 67 MLAs of the Opposition.

The CAG report disclosed non-reconciliation of advance drawn from treasuries on the Abstract Bills for Rs 11,412 crore between 2002-03 and 2007-08.

It had also stressed that no no inquiry by any agency would be proper at this stage when the CAG report for 2002-03 and 2007-08 was "under consideration" of the Public Accounts Committee.
