On Wednesday, the family members expressed sadness over a report on a TV channel on Tuesday regarding some dispute within the family over who would lead from the front.

In a hurriedly called press conference on Tuesday night at 10.30 pm at the residence of the late maestro at Harha -Sarai, four of his five sons — Mehtab Hussian, Janib Hussian, Kazim Hussian and tabla player Nazim Hussian—- and their three married sisters and brothers-in-law announced that they have chosen their second eldest brother Naiyyer Hussian for the job.

All five brothers denied the news of any friction within the family over the issue and described it as totally baseless. They said that no stone would be left unturned in making shehnai attain dizzy heights.

Naiyyer made it clear that before the conclusion of “Chaliswa” of Khan Saheb, no programme would be performed. S. Javed, personal secretary of late Khan Saheb, would continue to discharge his duties as the secretary to Naiyyer Hussain, the family members said.
