For the first time, the LMC has decided to provide them business shelters at nominal charges. A big relief for those who slog it out under the open sky to earn their daily bread.

The shelters will come up on the open spots available with the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. And care will be taken to keep them off the pavements.
With the arrival of new boss Ram Bodh Maurya, the LMC has started thinking in a new direction. A man of vast experience Maurya says, “I have constructed such shelters in Ghaziabad and they turned out to be a hit amongst the masses.”

If a dhobi performing press on a shirt gets a shelter by paying Rs 5 per day then what’s harm in it, he says. “Usually officials don’t think of these downtrodden, people, but they are essential part of our society. I have directed the chief engineer to identify the vacant spaces where we could built shelters for the so that they could perform their task in the day,” he details.

“In addition to the shelters for these people I have also directed to mark the places for the parking of rickshaws under the trees,” says he.

Chief engineer SK Srivastava he has received the orders regarding the identification of places where these shelters could be constructed. LMC officials said this is a wise move. As this will not only help the LMC but also a section of society. Besides that LMC garden superintendent has been directed to identify the places around the River Gomti where the tree plantation could be performed.

According to Maurya, he has plans of planting the trees on the 10 kilometers stretch of the Gomti.
