The results of the assembly polls besides clearly giving lead to the saffron party in 23 Lok Sabha seats (assembly seat wise) also reduced the votes of the Congress Party in its traditional seats like Chhindwara and Guna from where Union Ministers Kamalnath and Jyotiraditya Scindia were the elected members.

"It is not wise to compare the poll performance in the assembly and Lok Sabha polls, but one cannot ignore the fact that only four-five months back BJP returend to power by creating an history in the state and therefore, it cannot be said that people will give an altogether different verdict in the general elections," a senior poll analyst V D Mehta told PTI.

At present out of the 29 seats, BJP has 25 and the remaining four are with the Congress as from there Congress stalwarts like Kamalnath (Chhindwara), Jyotiraditya Scindia (Guna) and Kantilal Bhuria (Jhabua now Ratlam) are the candidates.
