The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit is going all out to ensure that its upcoming Vijay Sankalp Rally in Ranchi is a success.
Eight trains have been booked to bring supporters from across Jharkhand to Ranchi on December 29 – when the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi delivers his maiden speech in the state capital.
Two trains each from Garwah, Palamu, Sahebgunj and East Singbhum districts of Jharkhand will pour BJP supporters onto Ranchi’s Hatia railway station. Party workers claimed that each train would have at least 10 bogies and accommodate around 1,000 people.
Dhurwa Ground, the venue for Modi’s rally, is around 10km from the Hatia railway station. State BJP workers said bus facilities would be available to take the supporters to the rally ground from the railway station.
“Around 10 buses will be waiting outside the railway station throughout the day,” said Prem Mittal, a Ranchi-based BJP worker.
Party sources also said around 200 buses and trucks would ply across Jharkhand on the day of the rally to bring supporters to the capital and drop them back home.
Late Wednesday evening, the BJP’s central committee approved the venue for the rally and asked party workers at the state level to go ahead with the preparations.

“Narendra Modi and party president Rajnath Singh will land at Ranchi at noon and straightaway move to the ground for the rally,” BJP spokesperson Pradeep Sinha told Hindustan Times.
“Modi’s speech is expected to conclude by 3pm and he will leave for Gujarat at 4pm.”
Around 300,000 people are expected to attend Modi’s rally. But the state BJP unit is trying to increase the footfall as much as possible, said party sources.
The rally ground can accommodate at least 400,000 people, said local BJP workers.
