Alleging "complete compromise" of the CBI’s autonomy under the UPA rule, party general secretary Arun Jaitley asserted that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself should look into the matter.

"It is a strange coincidence that opinions of law officers under the UPA Government always tend tofavour the accused, particularly if the accused happens to have political affiliation with the UPA," he said.

Jaitley cited the CBI cases involving RJD leader and Railway Minister Lalu Yadav, JMM leader Shibu Soren , Satish Sharma of Congress and the Bofors deal.

He also stressed that there was no ground for the CBI to drop the cash-for-MLA cases against Jogi who is a former chief minister of Chhattisgarh.
