The special session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly began on Tuesday morning in the face of a determined boycott by the main opposition Congress which argued that a special session would be unconstitutional.
The Congress and ruling BJP do not see eye to eye on a number of issues including the need for holding a special session.
The Congress maintained that holding the session was unconstitutional while the BJP felt that there was nothing wrong in it.
The Congress Legislative Party had announced its decision to boycott the session some days back while the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had tried his best to ensure that the opposition MLAs take part in the session.
Two days back, Chouhan had even written to the Congress President Sonia Gandhi urging her to persuade her party MLAs to take part in the session.
"I do not see any reason for politicking when the issue is only development of Madhya Pradesh", he said.
But Senior Congress Leader Ajay Singh said that Chouhan had shown lack of decorum by releasing to the press copy of the letter even before it had reached Sonia.
