With both the Congress and the BJP supporting the 72-hour bandh call of the traders, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) feared the worst.
It said both the parties would be held responsible if anything untoward, resembling Seelampur, took place during the 3-day traders' bandh.
DPCC president Ram Babu Sharma and Leader of Opposition in Delhi, Jagdish Mukhi have extended their support to the bandh call.
Political observers say that this has perhaps happened for the first time that both the ruling party and the opposition have rallied around a common cause.
"We will back the struggle of the traders to get justice," Sharma said, extending the support of the party to the bandh call.
Mukhi termed the Congress as opportunist saying, "the BJP will make the Delhi bandh on all the three days successful and will expose the double standards and anti-trade policy of the Congress."
Delhi NCP president Ramvir Singh Bidhuri came down heavily on the Congress for supporting the bandh. "For the fist time, the saffron colour of the BJP and the tricolour of the Congress would flutter together," he said.
The NCP wondered what would the Congress do when the protesting traders raised anti Delhi government, anti Centre and anti court slogans. "The party is in power at all the three levels of governance and it would be protesting against the inaction of its own party," said Bidhuri.

{{/usCountry}}On the BJP, Bidhuri said the Opposition in democracy is meant to protest. Attacking the Congress, he said if the ruling party started behaving like an Opposition, all caution would be thrown to the winds.
For the NCP, there is only one solution—Constitutional amendment to incorporate the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act, 2006 in Schedule 9.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the Congress led by DPCC president Sharma met Lt Governor BL Joshi and submitted a memorandum requesting him to exercise his constitutional powers to get the Master Plan 2021 implemented before January 31, 2007.
The party had, on Wednesday, petitioned Bhure Lal of the Monitoring Committee to seek relief for the traders.
