The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday claimed to have added 50,00,0 new members to the party in the Valley.

In a press release, the BJP in Srinagar attributed Prime Minister's slogan of good governance to attracting people, especially youth, towards the party.

BJP's member monitoring committee and media incharge Kashmir, Altaf Thakur, said that the aim of the drive was to strengthen the BJP's foothold across the Kashmir Valley.

"PM Narendra Modi's slogan of good governance, development, special attention towards the Kashmir society and financial help to the flood-hit has attracted the new members into the party fold. The most important is the youth of Kashmir and from last one month, we added thousands of youth to our party," Thakur said.

He said the party was aiming to add at least three lakh new members to its fold in coming months across the Kashmir Valley.

"The membership drive was started last month here at a function in which all the party's senior workers, district heads and candidates fielded in the recently-held elections in different constituencies across the Kashmir Valley were present," he said, adding the aim was to reach out to every household in Kashmir.
