A number of BJP workers gathered outside the party office in Lucknow and raised slogans against Congress saying that the party's mouthpiece had insulted freedom fighters by mentioning their castes.

"This is an insult to the nation's heroes and BJP will protest it," a party leader said.

Later, police reached the spot and dispersed the BJP workers.

Meanwhile in Chandigarh, the local unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, BJP's youth wing, on Wednesday condemned the publication with its party president Maheshinder Singh Sidhu saying that the article undermined basic principle of freedom for which these great martyrs have laid their lives.

He said our great freedom fighters had fought for a free and unified India, whereas, the article printed by the Congress party smacks of casteism and regionalism.

The party demanded an apology from the Congress and said it would hold protests in all parts of the country.
