“Ridiculous things are spoken against minorities in these programmes and donations are collected forcibly from businessmen,” Singh told reporters here. He said the Congress would organise a ‘Sarva dharma sammelan’ to spread communal harmony.

Singh said most of the stone mines in the district were shut, while labourers were without work. Besides, food materials and other daily use materials were not available in the ration shops.

Singh was here to take part in a Congress rally to protest the policies of the BJP Government. Besides, former minister Govind Singh, K P Singh and Mahendra Baudh also participated in the rally.

Earlier in Gwalior Singh said that the Congress will mobilize support and demand justice for the expelled party MP from Gwalior Ramsewak Singh Gurjar.

Saying that Gurjar was ‘implicated’ in the ‘cash for query’ scam, Singh claimed that Parliament proceedings were testimony to the fact. ‘ That pointed question (understood to have been bribed for) never came up for discussion on the floor of the House,’ the former chief minister said.

Talking about the party’s programmes in the State, he said rallies and demonstrations are being organised to expose the ‘anti-people’ government led by the BJP. The plight of farmers was aggravating everyday and they were in a pitiable condition due to lack of agriculture inputs, irrigation water, power, fertilisers.

He accused the ruling party of resorting to malpractices in cooperative elections. ‘The returning officers were puppet in the hands of BJP leaders,’ he said.

He asked PCC chief Subhash Yadav to organise all-region conclaves in places, which were communally sensitive.
