Gujarat BJP today sought to downplay Chief Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul and said the controversy surrounding it would have no impact on party's election campaign strategy.
"BJP believes in maintaining high standards of campaigning and such sporadic happenings will have no bearing on party's canvassing strategy," in-charge of party election campaign committee Suresh Mehta told reporters when asked to comment on the remarks that has evoked angry reaction from Congress.
Mehta, however, refused to comment any further when pointed that Modi had referred to these remarks throughout Deputy Prime Minister's second leg of 'Bharat Uday Yatra' that passed through Gujarat from March 30 to April 1.
Quoting a "survey" in Nadiad district, Modi had said that Gandhi and her son Rahul were found to be "unfit" even for the job of a clerk and driver.
