In a bid to check growing dissidence in Hazaribag where External Affairs minister Yashwant Sinha contesting against a united opposition candidate Bhubaneswar Prasad Mehta of the CPI, the BJP has expelled former Ramgarh MLA Shankar Chaudhary.

Decision to this effect was taken after Chaudhary had been allegedly involved in anti-party activity, BJP spokesman Uma Shankar Kedia said here yesterday.
Chaudhary became the third BJP leader to get the axe after a similar punishment was meted out to rebel candidate Mahavir Lal Vishwakarma and former Hazaribag district president K P Sharma a few days ago.
