The party’s strategy is to keep the Chief Minister busy in his constituency by fielding Jhabak, who has close relations with Union Finance Minister Jaswant Singh and erstwhile rulers of Jodhpur.

Jhabak had started his career at the Umaid Bahwan Palace looking after accounts of the trusts of erstwhile royals.

Later on his responsibility were increased and currently he is the director of the Mahendra Hotels Private Limited, a company managed by the royal family of erstwhile Marwar state. Sardarura constituency has a sizable population of Rajput and Vaishya community. Names of former vice-chancellor of Jai Narayan Vyas University Prof L S Rathore and Mahendra Singh Rathore were also in the panel.

Jhabak belongs to Oswal community and has the support of Maharaja Gaj Singh. BJP’s calculations go in favour of Jhabak as he can claim votes of both the communities. Talking to the Hindustan Times over phone from Delhi, Jhabak said he is going to contest on the issue of employment and sustainable development.
