The senior party leaders have approved the strategy at the party’s national executive meet which concluded at Dehradun on Sunday.

According to the plan, in the first phase, former Chief Minister and in-charge of the UP affairs Kalyan Singh will go to Ayodhya for ‘darshan’ of Ramlala on September 26. After this, the party will launch its election campaign in a big way.

Talking to Hindustan Times on his return from Dehradun, State BJP president Keshari Nath Tripathi said six big rallies would be organised. He also said the entire State was divided into six sectors for poll campaigning.

Besides, the party took a decision at the Dehradun meeting to hold at least 40 meetings in each of the 403 Vidhan Sabha constituencies.

Meanwhile, the BJP dubbed the saree distribution programme of the SP-led government as an election gimmick. A sum of Rs 4 crore would be spent from the state exchequer on the scheme.
