Slamming the previous BJP-led NDA government's governance, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday charged the saffron party with adopting a policy of "divisive politics."

"The UPA government in the last three years has sought to reverse the damage caused to the country and made efforts to strengthen the secular fabric," Singh, who is on a day's visit to Bangalore, said.

"UPA government has kept communal forces in abeyance and minimised their challenge to the unity and integrity of the country," Singh said attacking BJP.

Giving an overview of the UPA government's achievements while addressing a select group of party workers and front ranking leaders here, Singh said his government in the last three years by all accounts had done "pretty" well.

India's economy is growing over nine per cent in the first three years, which is the highest rate of growth since independence,he said.

Investments and savings have touched a growth rate of 35 per cent, he said, pointing out that the world has recognised India as one of the fastest growing economies. "It is a privilege to preside over this progress of economy," he said.
