Minister of state in prime minister's office (PMO) Jitendra Singh on Sunday urged people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in order to ensure accountability of "the enormous" central funds being provided to the state.

Addressing public meetings at Pancheri, Singh said: "BJP is in favour of bringing out a detailed account of the hundreds of crores of rupees that have been provided to J&K by the government of India since 1947."

Singh said the BJP will also order an inquiry to investigate into the alleged misappropriation of central funds by "certain individuals and families from time to time".

The BJP leader while taking a dig at the ruling parties in the state said it is a "strange irony" that all the youngsters capable of becoming chief ministers or reaching high positions in the hierarchy are born only in two or three ruling families of the state.

"BJP will strive to establish democracy in its true spirit where every youth will have the opportunity to grow in career as per their capabilities, caliber and diligence," he added.

Singh said that with Narendra Modi at the helm of affairs in New Delhi it is a rare opportunity for the people of state, particularly the youth, to vote for establishing a system of governance where there is justice.
