Accusing BJP of turning its back both on 'Ram' and 'roti', Bharatiya Janashakti Party chief Uma Bharti on Saturday alleged that its leadership was in a state of confusion when the country was passing through a critical phase.

"When the country is grappling with the threat of terrorism and when multinational companies are carrying out an economic invasion, the BJP leadership is totally confused. They have left both Ram and roti and do not know what to do," the expelled BJP leader said at the first workers' meeting of her newly-formed party in West Bengal.

Under this situation, the BJP leadership should have played a vital role, which they failed to do, she alleged.

Bharti alleged that Congress had "no principle" and was only interested in power politics and that the Communists were the "enemy" of the poor.

Later, speaking to reporters she said that her party might contest the next Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, but refused to spell out any alliance formation.

The Bharatiya Janashakti would contest future elections on its own in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, she said.
