"I see it as a marriage of compulsion. It has proved that the Chief Minister is very weak and to keep his seat, he will go to any extent and sacrifice anything," Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chief R V Deshpande said, adding that this only suggested that "anything could happen anytime".

He was responding to a query from reporters on the "amicable solution" arrived at between warring factions led by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and the Reddy brothers in Delhi.

Deshpande said "internal bickering" had led to both groups "washing their dirty linen in public," and this has not gone down well with the people.

The crisis which took 14-days to resolve despite the intervention of the central leadership, also proved that the BJP central leadership was a "total failure", he alleged.

During the last two weeks, government functioning had come to a standstill, resulting in flood relief work being affected, he alleged.

"Now let the people of Karnataka judge him (Yeddyurappa) and if he is sensible let him go back and help the flood victims," the KPCC chief said.
