As part of the ongoing agitation, activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party led by its MLA and former Finance Minister Harishchandra Srivastava ‘Harish Ji’ staged a demonstration outside BHU main gate here on Sunday.

The BJP leaders claimed that Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya had founded BHU to safeguard Hindu religion. “How could varsity administration serve show-cause notices to its teachers for participating in a programme outside the varsity campus”, they asked.

The BJP leader said that neither the BJP nor any other pro-Hindu organisation would tolerate such dictatorial acts of the BHU administration. He charged BHU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Panjab Singh while playing in the hands of the Congress.
“Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh wants to spread Congress and Left ideology on the BHU campus and that was why show cause notices were served”, demonstrators alleged. They also warned to intensify their agitation in case the BHU administration did not withdraw the show cause notices without any condition.

It may be mentioned that the BHU authorities had served show cause notices to some of its faculty members in the third week of November seeking explanation within 15 days for participating in an RSS-sponsored programme. Since then, several pro-Hindu organisations have been protesting against the BHU administration.
