A three-day session of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive and national council began in Nagpur on Friday to chalk out the party's strategy for the Lok Sabha elections.
The session is considered to be crucial since it would be the last ahead of the poll and would adopt three resolutions on the country's "sagging" economy, the political situation and the turmoil in Sri Lanka.
While the national executive would be held for two days, the national council would meet on Sunday. The national executive comprises the central office-bearers of the party, while the council also has state unit presidents and leaders of the party's legislators in different states.
BJP spokesperson Ravi Shanker Prasad said the resolution on Sri Lankan crisis would address the "government's failure" to protect the rights of Tamils there, while the one on economic recession would take "the Congress (government) to task" for increasing unemployment and rising prices.
The executive would adopt a political resolution condemning the government's "non-performance", he said.
