BJP on Monday opposed talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf in Havana during the NAM Summit, saying the country had to send a strong message to Pakistan to dismantle terrorist camps on its territory.
"We should tell Pakistan that till this is done no meaningful purpose can be served by talks. It is ironical that while the secretary level talks between the two countries have been suspended, leaders of both countries want to meet", BJP vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters.
On the Jharkhand issue, he said he was "confident" that the Arjun Munda government would survive the trust vote, and the Congress "destabilisation attempt" would boomerang on it.
"We are confident we will be through. Mandate of the people is in favour of the BJP-led coalition and not in favour of Congress," he said. The Jharkhand BJP leadership was "still confident", despite "the machinations" of the Congress party, which had allegedly "written the script of destabilisation", he added.
