Speaking on the concluding day of the two-day meeting of the State Working Committee of BJP’s local body cell, in Varanasi on Monday, Shahi said the objective of the meeting was to chalk out a comprehensive strategy for the election and ensure the party’s victory in the rural and urban areas of Varanasi district.

BJP State general secretary Lallu Singh Chauhan alleged that the SP-led State Government was creating hurdles in the development of urban areas, as maximum seats in urban areas were represented by BJP activists.

BJP local body cell president Haridwar Dubey also addressed party workers today.

Meanwhile, in an informal chat with mediapersons on Monday, Surya Pratap Shahi said BJP activists would foil the SP’s intentions to gain victory in the forthcoming civic election through unfair means.

It may be mentioned that BJP State president Keshari Nath Tripathi inaugurated the SWC meeting on Sunday.

He was of the view that preparation for civic election should be considered as preparation for the next Assembly election, likely to be held this year. He also said the BJP was all set to improve its performance in rural areas.
