"In its desperate attempt to woo the voters, BJP like elsewhere in India is propagating its tried and tested formula to polarize the voters on communal lines in Doda-Udhampur constituency, but voters of this hilly constituency cannot be misled by BJP and won't let them succeed in there nefarious designs," State Road and Buildings Minister and senior Congress leader, Majeed Wani told reporters here today.

Union Minister and senior Congress leader Gulam Nabi Azad is contesting for the Lok Sabha seat from Udhampur constituency.

"People will vote for development, which they have witnessed during the last 10 years of UPA Government in general and the kind of development of this constituency have witnessed in health sector in particular," he added.

Replying to a question of whether there is a Modi-wave in the region, Wani denied saying, "There is no Modi or Namo wave in this constituency and they hardly know BJP candidate Dr Jatinder Singh. That is why in its desperation to save its face, they are trying to propagate NaMo wave as they have nothing to say on developmental issues and how can they (BJP) deny what Azad has done for this area."

The Minister pointed to recent statements of VHP and BJP, which have recently alleged that Congress-NC coalition government was responsible for Kishtiwar riots.

"To polarize the society and to divide the voters on communal lines VHP and BJP has suddenly came out of there deep slumber and after seven months of the incident, they have suddenly raked up the issue but the will get nothing out of this and people will come and vote for congress defying any attempt of communal flare-up," Wani added.
