BJP recommends Tomar for Rajya Sabha

Madhya Pradesh BJP has recommended the name of state unit President Narendra Singh Tomar for nomination to the vacant Rajya Sabha seat from the state, party sources have said.

Madhya Pradesh BJP has recommended the name of state unit President Narendra Singh Tomar for nomination to the vacant Rajya Sabha seat from the state, party sources have said.

The vacancy in the Upper House of Parliament had been caused following the death of sitting member and senior BJP leader Laxminarayan Sharma.

The State BJP Election Committee, which met here yesterday, unanimously decided to recommend the name of Tomar for the nomination to Rajya Sabha, they said. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan proposed the name of Tomar following which the committee members took a unanimous decision, the sources said.

Besides Chouhan and Tomar, senior party leaders Sunderlal Patwa, Kailash Joshi and Makhan Singh Chouhan attended the meeting, they said.

The BJP panel also decided to meet on January 19 to discuss probable candidates from Madhya Pradesh for the coming Lok Sabha elections, the sources added.
