BJP CANDIDATE for the vidisha lok sabha by-poll Rampal Singh filed his nomination on Friday- the last date - at the collectorate before returning officer R K Mathur.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and a few other party leaders accompanied him. Addressing a gathering of his supporters before filing his papers, he said if elected to the Lok Sabha, he would exert pressure on the Centre for development of the State.
“Affairs in Delhi are in a bad shape. Nobody knows who the Prime Minister is. Nobody knows how the government at the Centre is running. Though I am going to board the Delhi bus its accelerator, steering and brake seem to have failed,” he told the gathering.
“How do I look as a candidate? Do I look like a good candidate?” he asked the gathering. Chouhan and other senior party leaders on the dais spurred him to contest with full strength.
Rampal Singh told the gathering as to how he had shared the moments of trial and tribulation with people of Vidisha in the past right from his days with the Jansangh.
Chouhan in his speech said that after becoming an MP Singh would be in a position to monitor development of entire state and not only a few departments.
Former chief ministers Sunderlal Patwa and Kailash Joshi, and State BJP president Satyanarayan Jatia ridiculed the opposition, mainly the Congress saying that it could not find a suitable candidate for the constituency.

CHIEF MINISTER Shivraj Singh Chouhan said “I have watered Vidisha parliamentary constituency with my sweat and blood while representing it five times in Lok Sabha. The parliamentary constituency is my temple, people the God and I am the priest”, he said.
Counting the development schemes he implemented in Vidisha in particular and the state in general he said Vidisha’s people pervaded his entire being (rom rom me base hain). “I cannot repay the debt to them in various births. I pray to the God to be reborn in Vidisha parliamentary constituency to serve it again”, he added. He said it was not Rampal Singh but he who was contesting the election. Hence people should help him break the record of his victory in the 2004 general elections.
