Bar Association Jammu also suspended their work in the courts against the Justice (retd) Gandhi Commission for giving clean chit to Kitchloo and re-induction of him into the ministry by the government.

Partial bandh was observed in the city but no untoward incident was reported from anywhere, police said.

Market and business establishment remained closed and vehicles were off the road. Attendance remained thin in the government offices and schools due to strike.

Kitchloo had quit as Minister of State for Home following the riots, and was re-inducted into the ministry on Saturday after his exoneration a day earlier.

Justice (Retd) RC Gandhi, probing the riots, exonerated Kitchloo and blamed police and the local administration for mismanagement during the August nine riots which left three dead and dozens injured.

Bandh was also observed in Samba, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah and Kathua belts of the division.
