Alliance talks between BJP and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) for the coming Assembly elections in Sikkim have failed, state BJP President H R Pradhan said here on Friday.

Though the political affairs committee of the SDF, which is ruling the state, refused to have any electoral tie-up about a fortnight back, state BJP leaders did not give up efforts hoping that they will finally succeed in fostering a seat-sharing arrangement with the SDF as it extended support to the BJP-led NDA at the Centre.
"However, the alliance could not materialise and we have decided to go it alone in the coming Assembly elections," Pradhan told PTI.
Describing the SDF's refusal to join hands with the BJP in Sikkim as violation of the "coalition dharma", Pradhan said BJP felt "cheated".
"They kept us waiting for it (alliance) for so long and at last came up with a 'no'. It has upset our poll plans to a certain extent as all of a sudden we are supposed to go alone in hustings," he said.
The BJP will soon decide number of seats it would contest for the Assembly and whether or not it would field its nominee for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state, Pradhan said.
To a question, the BJP leader said his party was however still open to having tie-up with like-minded regional outfits.
